In this practice quiz, we'll practice some of the verb tenses you've learned so far,

including present perfect and past perfect, plus active and passive.

  

Read the story below, and try to figure out the best verb tense for each blank.

Then, each question will show you a sentence or clause from the reading

and ask you to make the best choice from the answers given.

      


     
 

A SUCCESSFUL BUSINESSWOMAN

 
 

          Kaori is a new student at UCD in Denver, but she __ (live)1 in Denver for almost a year.  She __ (study)2 English at Spring for 9 months before she __ (get + accept)3 at UCD.  She was very happy last month because she got a score of 81 on the TOEFL test.  Kaori __ (study)4 English in Japan, but when she came to America, she __ (not + able to)5 listen and speak well with Americans, so she enrolled in the ESL program.

          While Kaori __ (attend)6 Spring, she lived with an American host family.  She __ (be + worry)7 before she moved in, but she really enjoyed her experience there.
