G3:  Superlative

by Tom Rohrbach

Multiple Choice Quiz

We use "superlatives" to talk about the best, the most, the greatest - like Superman!

We have several kinds of superlatives - 1-syllable regular, 2-syllable regular, 2-syllable ending in "y", 3-or-more-syllables, and irregular.

We always use "the" with superlative if we are talking about the only one - for example, Superman is "the fastest".

In some situations, we are not talking about the only one, and we do not use "the" - for example, "He is happiest when he's with his children."
