In level 3, we introduce you to the 'present perfect progressive' (or 'continuous') tense.

We use this verb tense for an action that has been happening continuously or repeatedly from the past until now.
  

P R E S E N T   P E R F E C T   P R O G R E S S I V E   ( c o n t i n u o u s )

     HOW TO MAKE

"have" or "has"   +   "been"   +   "___ing"

     SUBJECT-VERB AGREEMENT

"I"  /  "You"  /  "We"  /  "They"  etc.  →  "have been doing..."         "He"  /  "She"  /  "It"  /  "John"  /  "Mary"  etc.  →  "has been doing"

     EXAMPLES      "We have been studying..."    |    "Mark has been trying..."    |    "The company has been selling..."    |    "The dog has been sleeping..."
     SPECIAL VERBS

For the verbs "LIVE", "WORK", "STUDY", and "TEACH", both p.p. and p.p.p. are popular:  "She has worked..." / "She has been working..."
