At Spring International Language Center, we are very proud of our dedicated, high-quality, professional faculty and staff.
 

Our full-time instructors hold advanced degrees or have completed special coursework in English as a Second Language, linguistics, or a related field.  They have an average of over 12 years of experience teaching foreign students in the United States and abroad. 

We are also proud to have several award-winning teachers, award-winning administrators, and textbook authors at our schools.
 


 

 

Pambos Polycarpou      PRESIDENT AND CO-FOUNDER

Pambos, originally from Cyprus, was a Fulbright Exchange Scholar at Colorado College where he graduated with a B.A. in English Literature. He received an M.A. in Teaching English as a Second Language and a M.Ed. in English Education at the University of Arizona. He also completed course work for a Ph.D. in Philosophy of Education at Indiana University. He is one of the founders of Spring International Language Center. He enjoys skiing and travel.

Jeanne Hind      DIRECTOR, DENVER CENTER

Jeanne holds an M.A. in Applied Linguistics with specialization in Teaching English as a Foreign/Second Language from Ball State University, an M.A.T. in English Education from Seton Hall University and a B.A. in English and Communication Arts from Lindenwood University. In addition, she completed all coursework towards a PhD in Educational Leadership and Innovation at the University of Colorado Denver. Jeanne taught at Kinjo Gakuin University in Japan for 5-1/2 years prior to coming Spring International. She has been with Spring International since 1981 and continues to enjoy teaching along with directing the center. She loves reading, travelling and going to the theater.

Cheryl Madrid      ACADEMIC COORDINATOR

Cheryl holds an Ed.S. in Administration and Supervision from the University of Colorado Denver, an M.A. in Elementary Education with a TESL minor from the University of Colorado Denver, and a B.A. in Elementary Education with a TESL minor from Metropolitan State University of Denver. She holds licenses for teaching and administration plus an endorsement in linguistically diverse education. She has worked as an educational textbook representative and was involved in district initiatives regarding English language assessment. She is a life-long learner and is currently pursuing additional coursework in the field when not enjoying time with her new grandson.

 


 

Karen Barker      STUDENT SERVICES COORDINATOR & OFFICE ASSISTANT

Karen received her B.A. in Speech Communication, minor in Journalism from Metropolitan State University of Denver. In addition, she received her TESOL Certification from the University of Colorado Denver. Karen and her husband enjoy travels that usually involve animals. A few of their adventures include seeing polar bears in Churchill Canada, going on safari in Botswana and mountain gorilla trekking in Rwanda.

 


 

Ashley McBride      INTERNATIONAL STUDENT ADVISER & EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT

Ashley holds a B.A. in International Studies with an emphasis in Business from Colorado State University. She completed the NAFSA Academy for International Education, an intensive year-long training program in international education and is currently pursuing her master’s degree in Marketing Communication through University College at the University of Denver. She serves as the DSO and is trained in SEVIS and related government regulations.

 


 

Kori Sirisawat      OFFICE ASSISTANT

Kori holds a B.A. in Business Administration with a specialization in Aviation Management from the W. Frank Barton School of Business at Wichita State University. Originally from Thailand, Kori has been living in the United States since she was 7 years old. In the past, Kori enjoyed her job as a tour guide at the NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston.  She enjoys outdoor activities and traveling.  She also admits to a guilty pleasure of binge-watching TV shows like "Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives" and "Treehouse Masters".

 
 
 


 

Molly Orr      HOUSING COORDINATOR

Molly holds a M.A. in Linguistically Diverse Education from the University of Colorado Denver and a B.A. in German, with an emphasis in Foreign Language Education from the University of Texas, and she holds a Colorado Teacher License with endorsements in K-12 German. She has worked or studied abroad in Germany, Switzerland, Guatemala, Nepal, and the Ukraine, and she has studied and learned each of the native languages to varying degrees. She has taught English as a Second Language in various schools in Denver since 2010. On the weekends she enjoys reading, camping, and exploring in the mountains with her husband and young son.

Don Ferndelli

Don grew up in the Denver area, and has a B.S. degree in Computer Science from Colorado State University. He spent nearly 17 years with IBM in software consulting and training roles. He completed an IDELT certification with Bridge English in Denver and has studied Spanish for many years including immersion programs in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. He also studied French including two summer immersion programs at the Universite du Quebec a Montreal in Canada. He has a passion for languages, enjoys biking and travels any chance he gets.

 


 

Kelly Foster

Kelly has an M.A. in TESL and a B.A. in Speech Communications from Northern Arizona University and serves as Materials Coordinator for the center. She has been teaching at Spring International for 9 years. Before teaching at Spring International, she taught in the P.I.E program at N.A.U. She has taught at and led several summer English camps in the Czech Republic and taught community English classes there for 6 months. She enjoys travelling, reading, hiking, skiing, salsa dancing and playing music.

 


 

Carol Kok

Carol holds an M.A. degree in Curriculum and Instruction: Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education from the University of Colorado Denver. She earned her B.A. in German and Music from Dordt College in Iowa and she holds a Colorado Teacher License with endorsements in K-12 German and k-12 Linguistically Diverse Education. On the weekends, Carol directs a choir. She also enjoys singing, acting, and playing games with her children and their families.

 


 

Katherine Kouris

Katherine, a recipient of the Outstanding Part-Time Faculty of the Year Award (Community College of Denver, 1999), has been a teacher at Spring International for over 15 years. She completed her 2013 Sabbatical research in Italy focused on teaching methods used in Italian programs and a comparison with the Spring International program ("Teaching a Foreign Language: Teacher Perspectives"). She holds an M.A. in Art History from the University of Denver, and a B.A. in French Literature and Art History also from the University of Denver. Katherine has studied abroad both as an undergraduate and graduate student and has taught English in many settings both in the U.S. and abroad. She coordinates the conversation opportunities at the center as well as teaches.

Judy Okamoto

Judy holds an M.A. in Education from the University of Colorado Denver, a B.A. in Social Science with a minor in ESL and Elementary Education from California State University of Los Angeles. She was an English Instructor, at Doshisha University in Kyoto, Japan and is a volunteer instructor at Chibi no Gakko (a two-month cultural class for Japanese American children ages 7-14). Judy oversees the social activity offerings at Spring International-Denver.

David Perry

David grew up in the Kansas City area, and has a B.S. degree from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. He spent more than 21 years in the advertising industry partnering with Fortune 500 clients in leadership roles. To pursue his second career, he completed an IDELT certification with Bridge English in Denver. He studied French for five years including two summer immersion programs at the Université du Québec à Montréal in Canada. He also studied Spanish for three years including two immersion programs in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. He loves to travel, enjoys biking and paints watercolors in his spare time.

 


 

Bruce Rogers

Bruce Rogers teaches in the Graduate Exam Training (GET) program at Spring International. Additional ESL teaching experiences include at the Economics Institute of Boulder, Colorado and in a number of international settings in Indonesia, Korea, Vietnam, and the Czech Republic. He has worked as an English Language Specialist for the US State Department in Turkey. He has a B.A. in English from the University of Kentucky and an M.A. in creative writing from Boston University. He is an author of many texts, notably TOEFL and TOEIC test prep guides and co-author of a guide for the IELTS (published by Cengage/National Geographic). He has developed materials for test-prep CDs and for on-line programs as well as ancillary materials (such as instructor guides and unit tests) for a number of ESL series.

Tom Rohrbach      I. T. SPECIALIST & WEBMASTER

Tom has been teaching at Spring for over 20 years. He holds an M.A. in Experiential Education from the University of New Hampshire and a B.A. in English from Muhlenberg College. He was an English instructor for Aeon Corporation, Takasaki, Japan and serves as the IT Specialist for Spring International in both Denver and Littleton. Tom's many interests include yoga and meditation, computers and technology, bicycles and motorcycles, kayaking, mystery novels, Japanese culture, ancient civilizations, architecture, space science, and cats.

Laura Vance

Laura has a B.A. in Philosophy from George Washington University and a B.F.A. in Fine Arts from the University of Colorado at Denver. She also holds an M.A. in Education/Curriculum Design in ESL from CU Denver and a TEFL Diploma from Cambridge University. Laura has been teaching English since 1988, including 3 years in The United Arab Emirates at the women's campus of U.A.E. university and 1 year in Morocco at Al Akawayn University. Laura has taught at Spring International since 2006 and holds the position of Testing Coordinator. She has lived abroad and traveled extensively throughout her life and enjoys studying languages and cultures.
